8th Grade Science

Ms. Hamata

I teach 8th Grade Science at Ralston Middle for team 8A.  Outside the classroom, I coach cross-country and track, sponsor several Kids Count activities, and am sponsor for the 8th grade Washington, D.C. trip and RMS yearbook.

The best time of day to contact me is from 2:15 to 2:45 pm, or after the school day ends.

8th Grade Science covers:
      science & technology (2 units) - NO take-home book
introduction to chemistry (3 units) - book to take home
diversity of life (5 units) - book to take home
weather & atmosphere (2 units) - book to take home

8A science utilizes interactive notebooks.  We also use formative and summative assessments, but rely more on formative.  We examine current events.  We "do" a lot of science not a lot of lectures.

Our classroom critters are:
Baby Torti (Russian tortoise)
Cosmo (guinea pig)
Hector (rat)
Snowy and Spot (mice)
Huey, Duey, and Louie (goldfish)
Hunter and Pistachio (red-eared slider turtles)
Fluffy and Fuzzy (African dwarf frogs)
